Purpose of the WFD CIS CD ROM

Welcome to the 2005 version of the WFD CIS CD ROM, produced by the European Commission’s DG Environment.

The intention of this CD ROM is to provide you with a single interactive source of documents and information related to the European Commission’s Common Implementation Strategy (CIS) for the Water Framework Directive up to October 2005. Much of the information provided on this CD ROM, is also available through the public library of the European Commissions platform for information exchange CIRCA.

What's new in the 2005 version?

The original WFD CIS CD ROM, which was produced in 2003, provided information, documents and links relating to the CIS, up to September 2003. This revised and updated CD ROM includes all of the information provided in the original CD ROM as well as any additional information and documents that have been produced under the CIS between September 2003 and October 2005. The revised CD ROM also includes updated links to WFD related research.

Two following two sections have been added to the revised CD ROM:

• Other CIS Documents - This section provides links to other WFD CIS related reports and information. These include technical reports and papers produced by the various working groups, information sheets, the Article 5 issues report and the outcome report for Phase 1 of the Pilot River Basins testing exercise.
• EU Action Programme on Flood Risk Management. This section provides an overview of the new Flood Action Programme, links to relevant documents and the flood risk web-page.
